North State Gardens was founded in 1982 by David Erwin who brought to the business decades of expertise and a reputation as an expert landscape designer and contractor.
After earning a BS in Industrial Engineering from NC State University, David's son, Matthew, joined the company full-time in 1992.
Matthew learned first-hand every aspect of the business and eventually moved into management.
He is a North Carolina Licensed Landscape Contractor, North Carolina Licensed Irrigation Contractor, an ICPI Certified Installer of Interlocking Pavers, and a certified Segmental Retaining Wall Installer.
